Fun with Ceramics

One Thursday, we went to the Craft Center on post to see what the Toddler Craft Class was all about. The woman who was in charge of it had just gotten back from vacation, so she didn't have anythign special planned and they just finger painted. We do that at home pretty often, so Austin knew exactly what to do.
After the class, we found out that they have a paint and take ceramics area that kids can do. You basically just pick out two white ceramic figures, paint them, then the workers spray on a matte finish and you take them home that day.
Austin wanted to do this, so we picked out two figures (they had a lot of Halloween stuff out) and got down to business.
Do you see how serious he looks? He concentrated so hard on painting these things!

Here are the finished products (minus the eyes and mouth the worker put on for him so you could actually see a little detail). He was so proud of them! He said that the ghost was for Daddy and that the witch was for me. :-)

I'm a Big Kid Now!!!

Guess who's wearing underwear now!!! Yep! Austin!!!
I knew it was going to be like this....he had to make the decision that he wanted to wear underwear and then diapers would be done.

On Wednesday night, about 20 minutes before bedtime, he asked if he could wear his underwear. I said yes, but that he'd have to go peepee in the potty. This usually ends the conversation right there and he goes and gets a diaper instead. However, that night, he said, "No, I go peepee in my underwear." We discussed how that would not be good since he would then get peepee on the floor and would have to clean it up....and he said he would. Then, I said that he'd have to do the laundry too since his underwear would be all yucky with pee and would need to be washed. He said, "no, you do the laundry!" I said that wasn't how it works and that he'd have to go pee on the potty if he wanted to wear underwear. Then, he said, "Oh, I'll go pee in the grass like Koa and Abby." This had me laughing, but I said that boys go pee in the potty most of the time, but that if he went peepee in the potty a few times, I would let him pee in the grass if he wanted to. I asked him if it was a deal and he said ok. So, we get him set up in underwear and a pullup over it since I didn't have a mattress protector on the bed. He peed in them before even going to bed, but realized that it felt wet and yucky. We put more underwear and pullups on and then off to bed he went. He's been waking up dry since about 18 months now, so him getting up in the morning dry was not a surprise. However, it took him until 9:30 to even go pee....but HE WENT IN THE POTTY!!! He was so happy! He only went pee 3 times yesterday and one was an accident at Chuck E Cheese (we had plans to go there before the whole underwear thing, so we couldn't break our plans with friends). But, he went to the potty again right before bed and didn't have anymore accidents.

Today, he hasn't had an accident yet and has gone numerous times in both the big and little potty. He has also done number 2 in the potty, but had asked for diapers for that...but we don't really have any (we actually have 2 left but they are hidden so it's not a temptation). He hasn't asked for a diaper any other time than that.

I am so excited...I figured it would be an overnight thing where he just did it and didn't look back, but I was starting to wonder at what age that was going to happen!!! :-) I love the facial expression he had the very first time he went too....it was great! Definitely Kodak moment, but I didn't want to ruin it either!

Loving the water.....

Ok, now that we are only months away from moving from this wonderful location, Austin has decided that he loves getting in the water (as long as the waves aren't too bad). When we were at Sharks Cove one day, he saw another kid's floating ring. He got to try it out and loved it, so we bought him one.
We took him to Ko'Olina on Friday, August 1 and he tried it out. This is the only good picture I got of him and he's not even floating!

I've been really bad about taking pictures lately...sorry. I will try to do better this week and next. We just haven't done too much lately and I don't think of getting the camera out when we're just outside playing.
We plan on going to a craft class today and then to Chuck E Cheese....maybe I'll get some pictures then!
Love to you all...hope everyone is having a great week!

Not enough room....

Ok, so this picture was taken a day or two after we got Koa. It's so funny to me because it shows Koa all comfy in Abby's bed...with Abby a little miffed that she has to share (and that this little dog won't leave her alone!)...and Austin angry because "it's not fair!" that Abby is laying with Koa and he can't!
Since this picture has been taken, it has gotten better. Abby and Koa still share beds sometimes...in fact, she has gone and layed next to him a time or two! She no longer gets up right after he lays next to her.
Austin has taken to chasing Koa around the house instead of laying next to him. I don't think Koa likes it as much as Austin does though! I'll have to get a picture of Koa laying next to Abby to show just how big he has gotten. I have tried several times to get a picture of them laying with each other and it was really cute, but as soon as I get my camera, one of them moves! Figures!

Inspirational Video

A while back, there was a video posted to my ICAN e-list. I watched it, in awe, then saved it to my favorites. I had planned on e-mailing out the link to everyone, but had forgotten. It was posted again recently. Even though I had already seen it, it's something that you can watch over and over again. This lady has a gorgeous voice....even when in labor! Yes, that's right....she is singing during two contractions. She says that it helped her with the labor. It's a great song...you can download it from several sites. Please go to http://templetunes.com/ to see how to download it.

Here's the video:
